New HavServe Board Member and Board Secretary

HavBlog
Rose has been practicing and teaching organic vegetable gardening for 18 years. She is the mother of three grown sons and the grandmother of four. Rose was married to Richard for 44 years before his passing in 2013.
Rose studied nursing at Nassau Community College on Long Island where she earned her RN. During her years as a stay-at-home mother, she used her education to operate an in-home daycare business and later to develop a medical transcription service.
In 1990 Rose adopted a vegetarian lifestyle and pursued study in vegetarian nutrition. Using organic and biodynamic methods she has learned to grow healthy, earth-supporting and life-sustaining produce. Courses in permaculture and tropical gardening have enhanced her gardening approach.
Rose is a co-founder of Global Coalition for Peace, a Bethesda Maryland based non-profit, and the director of the Womens Self-Reliance Program, a project of GCFP that focuses on helping women to help themselves through gardening, nutrition education and micro-enterprise.
In addition to her ongoing community gardening training in Haiti with HavServe, Rose has taught organic vegetable gardening in Guatemala, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Washington, DC, and her home town of Pittsburgh, PA.
Rose believes that helping people to grow their own food is one of the most important steps we can take towards developing a world of peace, health and freedom for all.

Please join us in welcoming, congratulating and saluting our beloved and distinguished colleague, friend, Rose Lord, and in wishing her well as a HavServe Board Member and our Board Secreatry.
