Growth in agriculture is twice as effective in reducing poverty as growth in education – and Haiti needs all the help it can get to bolster its agricultural sector. Children travel by foot each day over rough terrain for as many as two hours, to attend the 5 schools we support and the HavServe International Academy in the Lebrun area. As they often arrive at school thirsty and hungry, we provide a daily nutritious meal using the produce from our school and community gardens. International volunteers donate seeds and train community members in sustainable gardening techniques. This project educates children in building and sustaining school gardens while promoting food security and proper nutrition.

Sustainable Development Goals Group Activities – Promote Growth in Agriculture and Protect the Environment Trips are designed for groups that want to travel to Haiti to complete a project in agriculture and protection of the environment, such as building water containments, distributing water filters, recycling, tree planting, or setting up solar energy instruments. Groups select a project in collaboration with HavServe, and work to raise funds for this project. Once funds have been secured, the group travels to Haiti to implement the project. These trips are ideal for church missions groups, youth groups, college spring break trips, or other group travel.
